Joost Grootscholten

Joost specializes in patent prosecution and litigation in the mechanical and electrotechnical sectors. Based on his long term experience, Joost can has gathered specialist expertise, amongst others, in the diverse areas of ICT / telecommunications / telephony, navigation systems, smart cards, RF-ID, high-end medical equipment, MEMS technology, digital media, software, nanotechnology, simulated fireplaces, bicycle components, umbrellas, and mechatronics in the overlap area between electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.

Joost works closely with clients ranging from SMEs and even private inventors to university technology transfer offices and multinational companies. He represents clients in varying stages of patenting, from FTO research through to invention harvesting, from original patent drafting through to grant(s) and also in revocation and infringement proceedings before the Dutch courts and the Unified Patent Court.

Joost graduated from the Technical University in Delft’s faculty of electrotechnical engineering in the department Electromagnetic Fields and Forces, specializing in geo-exploration. In addition he is a mechanical engineer also from the Technical University in Delft.
