Erik studied physics and obtained a PhD degree in nanotechnology from the Delft University of Technology. Erik studied law at the University of Leiden (cum laude) and worked as an examiner at the European Patent Office and as a lawyer at a large international-operating law firm. Erik’s field of expertise includes physics, electronics and ICT, including imaging, algorithms, big data, AI-related inventions, deep learning, video coding, cryptography and quantum computing. Erik has been admitted to the bar since 2005 and is European patent attorney since 2007. He teaches patent law and copyright law at the Delft University of Technology and is member of the legal commission of the Dutch Institute of Patent Attorneys.
