Gemma works closely together with clients from the chemical and biotechnological sector varying from SMEs and university technology transfer offices to multinationals. She drafts and defends patent applications, handles oppositions and is involved in actions before the Dutch court.

Gemma works across the entire chemical field, in particular on cases in the areas of antibodies, vaccine technology, polymer chemistry, coatings, and process technology.

Gemma graduated in Biochemistry from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, specializing in protein chemistry. She then obtained a PhD in the biomedical sciences from the University of Leuven, Belgium. In her doctoral research she investigated the role of calcium in autophagy, a process involved in i.a. Alzheimer’s disease and cancer.
